Who we are
About American Piano Academy
At American Piano Academy, we’re proud to be rooted in Denver and to offer families a warm, local alternative to “big box” lesson mills. Our specialty is piano, and we do it exceptionally well!
All lessons are taught in the comfort of your home, so students can relax, play on their own instrument, and build confidence in a familiar environment. Our teachers are carefully chosen not just for their musical expertise, but for their ability to inspire, connect, and meet each student where they are.
We welcome beginners as young as 2.5, work with kids and teens of all levels, and love teaching adults too! Every lesson blends structure with creativity, strong technique when it counts, plus favorite songs that keep students motivated and excited to learn.
Our Philosophy
We believe that music education should be both disciplined and joyful. Our teaching philosophy draws from the Faber & Faber method and classical conservatory traditions. But we balance that rigor with modern touches, teaching kids to play the songs they actually enjoy! By combining scales and technique with popular tunes, students stay engaged, confident, and proud of what they’re learning.
Our goal? To break every piano teacher stereotype you’ve ever heard. No stern “ruler-wielders.” No flaky, last minute cancellations. No monotonous drills with no life to the lesson. Just warm, reliable teachers who genuinely love working with kids and families.
How We Teach
At American Piano Academy, we’re polite, professional, and yes…fun! Lessons are structured enough to build solid skills, but flexible enough to keep kids excited about coming back. We balance classical foundations with the songs that make students light up. Whether that’s a Taylor Swift chorus, a holiday favorite, a movie soundtrack, or even a video game theme.
Nobody wants to drill the same three chords a hundred times, so we turn practice into play. Every session is tailored to your child’s personality, interests, and goals, so they’re always growing, always motivated, and genuinely enjoying the music they make. Parents see real progress, kids stay engaged, and lesson day becomes the highlight of the week.
